Yay or Nay Week 5

Yay or Nay Week 5:

So I had some good picks, some bad picks, and some terrible picks. Julio Jones I will never ever ever doubt you again. Ben Roethlisberger I probably will doubt you again but wow was I wrong. This was a bad week for me. Oh well, no sense in dwelling on the past so, here’s to improving next week, Yay or Nay Week 5 use at your own discretion as this article is not reinforced by normal stats, mostly by the eye test and good/bad feelings.
NOTE: I was sick writing after quarterbacks I like so I will just be writing names, not explanations.

QB’s I say Yay to Week 5:

Phillip Rivers, San Diego Chargers: The reason I like Phillip Rivers is as intangible as it gets. I have a far-fetched theory but I think it makes sense. The Chargers have lost three games this season, all of them heartbreakers. If you think of it, they really could be 4-0. Think about it, they blew a huge lead the first game, won their second, lost their third on a heartbreaking fumble, then lost their fourth on another fumble. The difference between the one game they won and the three they lost is that Rivers absolutely took over the game they won. He threw four touchdowns and put the team on his back. I think that Phillip Rivers is tired of losing and will put the team on his back again, even though I still think they’ll lose this game because well, um, they’re the Chargers…

Carson Wentz, Philadelphia Eagles: With so many elite quarterbacks out either on bye weeks or injury, Wilson, Brees, Palmer, Newton, you’re going to need a fill in guy. Wentz is that and so much more. The Eagles have proved most wrong and have done a great job bouncing back from the Chip Kelly year. Wentz has been a major role in that, proving to be not only a capable starting quarterback but a good one at that. I think that if your team is good but don’t have a stellar quarterback, Wentz will do the job for you. He will be consistently consistent and won’t lose you your week, which if you have a really good team, is what you’re looking for from you starting quarterback. Plus, this is a great matchup against the Lions.

Derek Anderson, Carolina Panthers: This pick is mostly for Cam Newton owners. You’re not sure if Cam will play or not, so you pick up Wentz. He has an above average day but nothing spectacular right? You get to Monday and well whattya know? Cam is playing and he just got 25 points. Well that sucks. Unless, you pick up Derek Anderson, play him if Cam doesn’t play, and if he does you just put Newton in. The reason I like Anderson is because it’s not like the weapons that he has just disappear. Greg Olsen is still a stud, Kelvin Benjamin is still a freak, and Tampa Bay’s secondary is still garbage. Cam Newton owners should trust Derek Anderson this week to be good.
