Heisman Race Gets Interesting!

And this guy is leading the Heisman race?! He did apologize so I will give him credit for that but I bet you if Bryce Love did that, his Heisman chances would be dashed quickly. Mayfield has put up strong numbers this season but in a conference that has not been as competitive as the PAC-12.

Stanford clearly stumbled without Love against Oregon State and lost a close one when Love just came back. He has tremendous value to his team and his 57 yard TD run last night was the difference maker in the Big Game. It would be unfortunate for Love to be a runner-up which seems to happen often for Stanford (once with Toby Gerhart, twice with Andrew Luck, and once with Christian McCaffrey).

So many contradictory excuses were made for each of those Stanford football players coming so close but not winning it. There should not be any excuses made if Love doesn't win it and Mayfield's latest antic does not represent the decorum the Heisman trophy deserves. Let's hope the Heisman voters see it that way when the trophy is presented on Dec. 9.
